Do not know if anybody has had this problem but.....

I have a SB Live 5.1, sound card. Installed vista drivers.

I have a set of 5.1 logitech speakers. I can only get sound from my middle front speaker and my front right speaker. Why is this

I have set the speakers in vista to quadrofonic and 5.1 and neither do the trick.

Any suggestions?

are you doing that test vista has? because for me that test only produces sounds for the front speakers minus centre.
but when i play audio/video it comes through all speakers.

Now that you've mentioned that awesomejs, I realized some plugs were not right.

But i've only got front right/left, and center channel speakers working

The rears you just hear hissing out of

The test itself, I can hear audio from all 5 speakers. Its when I listen to music/watch video that I only hear the front speakers

I realized at first I had my front left in my rear left hole. So I switched those and now I have full front sound

I want to know why now I hear sound out of ALL speakers during the test and only front during multimedia

I think the media you listed to has to be 5.1.

I use PowerDVD for watching DVD's and you can adjust to 6 Speaker system for instance.

Maybe there are adjustments in the software you use.

Just checked mine. No it doesn't need to be 5.1. MP3 in WMP plays on all speakers. I also pass the Vista speaker test.

I used to have a SB 5.1 and I had to twiddle with the plugs and they didn't go as marked as I remember. I think even had to enable the Swap Center / Subwoofer output. But that's been a long time ago.

Here is what I ended up doing.

Windows Vista Ultimate does not like my speakers + sound card on 5.1 for some stupid reason. So after messing with the wires, i popped it on quad. Movies worked. NOW

For those that have trouble with winamp.. I had to get the following..

http://www.winamp.com/plugins/details/147013

Now everything works *crosses fingers*
