Just wondering if anyone here has taken their car i for service at a Ford dealer in or around Scarborough?

If so, please post any good or bad comments as i have to take my car into the shop for some work.

Thanks in advance for any help. :)

I understand that this is little or no help, but, we have been extremely pleased with the service dept. at Expressway Ford in New Hamburg. For us the half hour drive (each way) is worthwhile. My point is that you should consider dealers on the outskirts - dealers that aren't so busy with HUGE volume that you're just a faceless number. Dealers usually favour those who service with them regularly; stuff like oil changes, air filters, etc. But "rural" dealers don't expect to do all of that to every vehicle in order to consider you a "good" customer. I speak from personal experience and an inside knowledge of dealer service depts.

My definition of a good service dept: Fixed right, the first time, at a reasonably competitive cost.

Agreed. If its not under warranty, you dont need to take it to a dealer to have service done. They tend to rob the customer with labour fees.

Rob is a understatement Mander.

That may be true for the large dealers that have high overhead and need to charge for the service or they may even be shysters what ever.

But a dealer can be the best place to have your car serviced especially if you get to know them, I deal with a dealer west of London that has seviced several of my cars and the shop rates are a lot less than here in town.
As for the dealers here in town, there's one in the South end that I wouldn't ever deal with, since they tried to pull a fast one on the wife by replacing parts that needed no replacement. I will never deal with them again and warn all others to stay away.

Just be comfortable with your Service dealer whether or not they are the dealers that sell the cars. You need not go to the dealer for PM service but for me, when ever I need preventative maintenence I like the folks I deal with and am quite comfortable with them. Over the years they have saved me lots of money by fixing things before they failed and as for the charges, many a time there was no labour charge for an item that came off with other things. Unlike other places that fix one thing then have you come back for repairs to an attached item and charge the labour again.

My dad recently did his timing belt @ 95,000KM. The dealer wanted something like $550 to do it. Our neighbour is a very honest mechanic who has 2 garages in Markville and Scarbrough. He did the work for around $340.

Actually, a timing belt is what I need done. Is there a chance that you could post or PM me the location and name of your neighbours Scarborough location?

Thanks for all the replies everyone. :)
