Hi All;
I have downloaded video that is an .AVI format. I have burnt it on to a CD and tried to play in my DVD player, however it does not play. I get a bad disk error on my DVD. I have tried another DVD player also and I get the same type of message.
Is this file type not suitable for DVD players? Did I do something wrong when I downloaded it? Did I do something wrong when I burnt it to CD? :rrg: :vxd:
I would appreciate any input as I don't know much about the different file types for videos.
Thanks in advance!

all depends on what your player plays.
most players play mp3,divx,jpegs and dvd-r and dvd+r.
of course some version of the above wont play due to different bit rates extra.
you can always change the type with nero or mayny other programs so it plays on the player.

What make and model numder of standalone DVD player do you have?
Knowing that is a good starting point for a topic of this sort.

Standalone DVD players do not play the MPEG 4 format (.avi) as a rule. As far as I know, only 2 players in Canada play it. I have the Philips 640(?) DVD which works well.
You can re-encode the .avi into a playable format (vcd, svcd).
