editing audio files

hi i have been trying to edit sum audio files that i need (roughly 5 hindi and one english) using audacity and i just cant do it, it mostly involves cutting specific parts of the song or making it quicker or fading the ending out and wen i try cutting it, its either too much or just a tiny bit more then what i need and i cant seem to get a good cut can anyone help?

Can't help you with Audacity, I use Nero WaveEditor or Sony Sound Forge.
Thier not free, Wave Editor is part of the nero package if you have that.
