View Full Version : Overclocking a 2.93 Celeron from a 2.2 bios setting

Just bought a motherboard bundle which includes a "Soyo SY-P4VTE" motherboard with a "Celeron 2.93" cpu. The Bios shows the bus clock at 100 MH which makes it a 100 x 22 = 2.2. In order to have it run at the rated 2.93 I wouild need to change the multiplier from 100 to 133 which the Bios says would then be overclocking. Now I have two problems with doing this.
The first is I wonder why the m/b didn't set the bus to match the cpu and the second is that the cpu is already running at 40c, which is on the warm side for me.
I have a 2.4 "Asus P4P800" and it consistently runs at 32c without overclocking.
Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.

Thanks............... Sonny

Some MB don't automatically set bus speeds. My MSI motherboards never have set themselves, always have had to do it manually.
