What is the best way to save hard drive space when finished with your dv files. The Imovie project files are huge,they take up space. What can I do.

Well, if these are for your own personal use, and you are definitely finished editing the movie, then why not delete the project file?? Keep the final, exported edited master (or your final cut) at full resolution, so you can export in a lower resolution if you ever need to. Save a bunch of them up until you have about a DVD's worth, and then make a DVD of all of them on one disk with nifty navigation etc.

Compressing an iMovie project will result in relatively little benefit. I compressed a 4.8GB iMovie project. the resulting zip file was 4.2GB; a 600MB savings.
