Hey everyone,
For the past couple weeks I have been receiving like 6 or 7 junk emails a day. I have been just deleting them. But I noticed that there is an unsubscribe button at the bottom. When I go there, they ask me to type in my email address. Now I remember reading somewhere about this, where they send junk out and when someone types in their email address they know that the account is active and they just send you even more. What do you think I should do?
Thanks.

Clicking on the link was a mistake. The URL was probably designed to identify you anyway so wether you enter your email address or not on the page, the damage has probably been done already. Get a good spam filtering software.

Never Never Never click on any link in spam!
You just notified them that this is a good e-mail address.... Sometimes just opening a spam email is all it takes.
Get ready for 50 to 100 spams a day .... coming to your inbox soon :(

I clicked on the link but it asked me to type an email address which i didnt type. I am only getting 6 or 7 a day.
I remember somewhere that you could forward junk to rogers and they could block it for you. Do they still do that?

As I said, that link was probably designed to identify you. This is a VERY common practice. Very common.
And don't rely on your ISP to filter spam. Rogers identifies my Mercury mailing list as spam. I do my own filtering with PopFile.

6 or 7 per day, and you're complaining! Consider yourself very lucky and enjoy the minimal Spam that you are getting - it will grow through time. I use MailWasher Pro. Use to get at least 100 per day, if not more. MailWasher Pro (and MailWasher standard) previews the email on the server, before it gets to your computer. Through training it reduces your Spam.

You can check your rogers e-mail online....just specify what goes into your junk box and what goes into your inbox before you open your outlook to download it.
I never give out my personal address when I sign up for things your best to use a G-Mail account that way they can't spam you
I agree with Bogie thats not really alot but it is annoying.

I read this suggestion or yours Bogie for mailwasher. I have a copy and it really works. Cool program.
DreamLord34 - mail washer shows that you can change the mail program...so you should try it. Should work with mozilla thunderbird.
