This application lets you customise Windows by allowing you to take out components you don't need.
I can't touch it but maybe anyone that is confortable with reinstalling Windows may find it interesting to check out.

Hi I am looking into a part-time, rather work here and there business.
Currently I am thinking of cleaning up and recovering peoples computers, but rather I want to possibly concetrate on computer things mentioned on in this thread.
I was thinking of this for a while but after playing with nLite it rekindered my insterst in this. Now I am thinking of more of a cd service thing right now creating custom XP install cd backup CD's with new drivers that are not supported with the base XP cd. This pertains mostly to new computer hardware.
After reading this I would like to play around with XPlite and possibly use it as a guide line to make back up xp cds with drivers and also slim versions of xp with all the service packs and hotfixes etc on it. What I would really like to do is have a tweeked out XP backup instsll cd that wil run better on older machines.
I think this is a realy good thread. Anyone know any other programs etc that would be usefull.
As I have said I played around with nLite and adding service packs, drivers etc are very easy. Thought the slim down part is a bit more complicated.

I just put together a Vlite disc. Stripped out all the languages, keyboard schemes etc that don't involve American English. It cut the volume virtually in half. I've had it installed and running for a couple of days now and no issues.
I've also put together a XPlite disc I'm going to test on an old machine in the next day or so. Hopefully it works just as well.
