"Homicide charges were filed on Tuesday against the operators of a nursing home where 34 patients trapped by floodwaters died,
Louisiana Attorney General Charles Foti announced that the owners of a nursing home in St. Bernard Parish just east of New Orleans had been arrested and charged with 34 counts of negligent homicide in the deaths of 34 patients who died when the facility flooded.
"Thirty-four people drowned in a nursing home when it should have been evacuated. I cannot say it any plainer than that," Louisiana Attorney General Charles Foti said.
It is presumed they drowned when the storm hit.
Also at another hospital , more bodies ,additional investigation
"Foti said he planned to investigate the 44 deaths at Memorial Medical Center as well, even as Tenant Healthcare said the patients died awaiting rescue.

A NURSE at a New Orleans hospital accused his management yesterday of abandoning staff and patients during the hurricane, as an investigation was opened into the discovery of 45 corpses on the premises.
