I've ordered now VIF DSL service and am going to cut back Rogers to the slowest service until I see how it holds up.

Out of curiosity what happens when you hook up two internet services to one PC, like one on the NIC and one on wireless?

Does it even work? If so which service is it going to use? If one service craps out is the second one just talking over?

Sure you could do this, but without a router capable of doing this, its futile effort. You can only have one default gateway, thats where your traffic goes out of your computer to one of your internet connections. If your really serious about having to internet connections as I have, you want to look at a VPN router from linksys, the cheapest is $200 and it can support two internet connections in either load balanced or fail over configurations.

Sounds cool. I was just thinking for the meantime until I find my suitable Rogers replacement.

What if I use two routers? One cable from one router (Rogers) to the PC and one wireless connection from the other router (VIF) to the same PC?

Same problem, you can still only every have one gateway. It would work, but you'd have to manually change your gateway between the two routers each time you wanted to change from one to the other.

Thanks kind of figured that but didn't know about the routers that can do that.

Learned something new again:)

Do you know if NetGear has one that will do that?
I was looking at getting this one...does it support it?

It does not look like it does. As far as I know only the linksys supports two internet connections.

Once again out of curiosity, can you hook up a wireless router to that dual one so you can get wireless through the house?

Sure, you can always connect a wireless router to a wired one and vice versa, if not by an uplink port then by a crossover cable which you can get at any local computer store of futureshop or best buy.
