hi, i am running CentOS and and i want to install my intel usb webcam model cs330. i did some googling and it is apparently from viewquest. i seem to see that it needs a spca5xx or spca501a driver. i downloaded 2 of them but can't seem to be able to install them and can only find two sites which seem to carry it. would any of you be able to help me? also, a step by step would be great also, as i am new with linux and i tried to install them but can't seem to.

Hummm, I have had webcams based on that chipset and had no problems in linux. Mostly Mint Linux and Kubuntu.

the latest progress i have gotten was i am missing a dependency and the only site that has it is down :(

does anyone have anyother driver that would work or the dependency i need

the driver i am trying is gspcav1-kmdl-2.6.18-53.1.6.el5.centos.plus-1.00.20-4.el5.x86_64.rpm

the missing dependency is
/boot/vmlinuz-2.6.18-53.1.6.el5.centos.plus

If you are truly new to Linux, CentOS is not the distro for you. This is server-centric with the enterprise user in mind. Pick something more desktop and user friendly and you will likely even have support for most hardware out of the box.

Edit: It is based on RedHat, so look for the drivers with that in mind.
