I am using Core Temp 0.97.1 & RealTemp 2.4 to monitor my temps. Each show a different temp, which is right?
(see pic).
Also anyone know why I am only seeing 2 Cores & not 4 in Core Temp, RealTemp & CpuZ?(see pic)
Device Manager shows all 4 Cores (see pic).

If you have Everest (http://www.lavalys.com/news.php?article=50&selcat=PR&lang=en), the latest beta will allow you to monitor your temps. I use Everest as well as NVIDIA System Tools 6.10 (http://downloads.guru3d.com/nForce-nTune-System-Tools-ESA-version-6.10-download-1869.html) (new nTune). Core temp is a good app, however it is not supported yet in Vista 64 AFAIK. I'm not sure why you're only seeing 2 cores, as when I was running CoreTemp on 32bit Vista it ran fine. Do you have Cores 3 and 4 disabled in the bios???

Everest shows only 2 Cores & Device manager shows 4 Cores, weird!
I checked in the bios & it shows all 4 cores enabled!

I've read this occuring on other systems, both on xp and vista. Some people have remedied this by uninstalling all 4 cores in device manager and rebooting the system, letting vista/xp re-install the cpu drivers. You could try that. Other's have fixed this situation by doing a recovery using the Vista/XP Disc. Try those and let us know how it goes. This occurrance is quite rare from what I've read.

Did you see if all 4 cores show up at stock clocks??? what options did you enable/disable in the bios prior to overclocking your computer??? When you first installed your cpu, did cpu-z show all 4 cores prior to overclocking???

Thanks for your ideas compy.
I have everything at default (see pic), no change.
Strange thing is at the default settings, the board won't post until I hit F1!
Same message I got before I upgraded the bios to PO4. I flashed the bios again today to be sure!
I have emailed Evga, Intel & cpuid to see what they come up with.
I am stumped!
Last resort will be a format & re-install!
I don't think that would solve the problem tho, unless I have a cra..ed out MB or someother hardware issue!
Hey compy could you post your cpuz & everest results so I could see what they should look like?
Thanks.

Using the latest beta of Everest for the On-Screen Display. I love how it shows both SPP and MCP temps!!!! Not sure if this will help Quicksilver, but all apps on my end are showing up 4 cores.
I run my rig at these settings for everyday use... so far no trouble at all.
EDIT: Quicksilver, I forgot you should try this as well. Go into command prompt and then type: bcdedit /set numproc 4. Reboot your computer and see if all 4 procs show up.

Hey Compy thanks for the great pics!
Just what I wanted.
Your "Device Manager" pic showing all 4 cores, is similar to mine.
But my Everest & CPUZ apps only shows 2 cores!
I got an email from Evga which advises:
"Please go into the BIOS for the board and enter the Advance Chipset features and CPU Configuration. Make sure you have all 4 cores enabled and it should show the correct amount in CPU-z. Also to double check, try using a different 3rd party program to see if it detects the same as CPU-z".
I have done that.
Intel didn't offer any concrete help just a bunch of links to check out!
I tried the dos cmd you gave, I got a message about my "Boot config data store could not be opened. Access denied"!!
Still I have resigned myself to the inconvenience of a re-install.
Weird as this is, its still a learning experience!
I got some backing up to do so I'll get cracking, thanks for your help compy!

I may upgrade to Vista 64 if the price is resonable!.
What do you think compy?
Would I see a marked improvement across the board?
Thanks again.

I tried the dos cmd you gave, I got a message about my "Boot config data store could not be opened. Access denied"!!
You probably need to do this command either in safe mode, and/or with administrative rights. Oh and if you have User Account Control enabled (UAC), turn that crap off!!!

Compy you are a genius!!
I turned off UAC, typed in that dos cmd, rebooted & (see pic)!!
Believe me when I say I am relieved!!
Good thing I checked here before taking the re-install route that would have been a pain!
I owe you, glad you are on our forum we can count on you to help us out & giving some good ideas!
All the forums I checked no where was that dos cmd even mentioned once!!
Thanks a bunch!!

Glad I could help. I just tried out real temp for the first time. I've heard about it but never bothered to give it a go. After running it, I noticed a pretty huge discrepancy with it and other apps I use to monitor temps (EVEREST, NVIDIA System Tools, HWMonitor). All the other apps in brackets show the same temps, however real temp shows crazy low temps for my cpu. I wonder if it's actually showing the correct temp... If Real temp is the "real temp", I'm laughin as I'm running idle at 20+C (lowest core is 13C)!!!! LOL!!!

Seems core temp is now compatable with Vista 64 bit.
