One of my systems died 2 weeks ago and since I didnt have spare parts I went out and bought replacements 1 at a time untill it was fixed. never bothered to do any research, I was desparate. anyways this is what I had and this is what I have, and it works for some reason.

OLD: Abit Socket A AN7 Delux 512 ddr ram AMD 2500+ Barton Core

NEW: Asus A7N8X-E Socket A 1GB ram AMD 2800+ Semptron Socket 754 CPU ???????

You lost me.
The A7N8X-E Deluxe (http://usa.asus.com/products/mb/socketa/a7n8x-e-d/overview.htm) is not meant for socket 754 processors...

Semprons will work in the A7N8X - Series mobo's Semprons opporate in socket A

Socket A is not 754 pins...it's 462.
To the original poster, sorry you don't have a Socket 754 Sempron.
Oh and Socket 7 is not Socket A...you are really confused.

oh my bad, there is another socket heh. my bad. i just assumed but you can have semprons on a socket A... as the link shows.. they operate on two sockets it looks like

Socket A is not 754 pins...it's 462.
