Just wondering if there are others out there like me who enjoy playing older pc games on new systems? Reason I ask is because I find that the older games were pretty intensive for thier hardware rwquirements at the time of release, thus it is like seeing them in a different light with all the eye candy turned up and seeing them in their full glory...Some of the games, I have been doing this are Tron.20, First and second COD, Star Wars battlefront 1&2, World of Warcraft and Stronghold.
You asked this not too long ago didnt you?
Maybe im having deja vu though.
Anyway I play Xwing and tie fighter which are a ***** to get working on xp.
There are a lot more like Heavy Metal FAKK 2 which is a brilliant game and Drakan Order of the flame as well as Phantasmagoria 2 and many more.

It is quite possible that I did ask before...
I just enjoy older games , I get tired of seeign the same ole in new games that come out these days. Sure there are noteworthy new relseases that are blockbusters but for the most part, I just see the same thing over and over. The newer games really push the graphics ect but the plot just dosn't seem to be as strong in newer games with a few exceptions of course.
I agree. I always hear about the latest mainstream games from people but never about games that are under the radar but still really good and sometimes more worth playing that something like call of duty 4.
Right now im playing Obscure 2 the aftermath. The first game was passed over by everyone as well because it was a cheaper title but it was a really good survival horror game. The second one is great and really creepy with great music. It cost me 14.99 new for PC and its a fun game but not many will play it because its not a 59.99 hyped shallow multiplayer game.

I should check that one out sometime Law, the next time I sort through the bargain Bin. I agree, many of the 60 $ games are way way over hyped. I like horror games so am sure I will enjoy Obscure...I have scraches and that in some sites got really bad ratings but it is very creepy, especially if you can play it alone in the dark, which I can not seem to do, I chicken out and get scared, but one of these days I will do it.
scratches looked good to me. i plan to pick it up eventually but there are a couple others i want to try out first. One is called either after life or next life, another is The Experiment and there was one more that i cant think of the name right now.
all of them are creepy puzzle solving kind of games.
I wish it were easier to get older games running on new machines. I'd love to play some of the stuff I've kept for posterity: Under a Killing Moon, some of the Ultima games, 7th Guest... but they just won't work.

Every few years, I get the old Half Life out and give it a try.
It feels so blocky.... but it's my fave game ever, and it's just fun to still be scared by the odd hidden head crab :D

Even XP. Maybe I just don't know how to set them up properly, but the games seem to be dependent on certain DOS drivers for the CDROM and sound card. Oh well. Maybe they're best left unplayed, living on in memory only... like old cartoons from when I was a kid that just seem lame now, but were the best things ever back then.
