It's on the CBC website. Does that mean that they have a gm in mind. Personally I did not think Maurice was doing a bad job. I think they should have let the new GM get rid of him if it had to be done.
He did the best he could considering the roster he was given.

Exactly....
Maurice is a strong and knowledgeable hockey man who will find employment elsewhere in the NHL.
He'll be far better off than with this sorry Leaf "organization".
He didn't say on the news tonight, but deep down, methinks he's relieved.

too bad. as mentioned already, coach can only do so much with what he was provided.

I suppose this clears the deck for the new GM to pick his own coach.
However it now puts pressure on MLSE management to actually pick a GM.
Otherwise, considering that next year is already a write-off for the Buds, maybe they can produce a reality show: So You Want To Coach The Leafs where the denizens of Leafs Nation vie for the opportunity to coach the team.
One consolation for Leafs Nation, next year you will be closer to Tavares then you will be to Stanley Cup contention. It is almost in the bag.
