avg question

I can't get Avg to work properly for me.
I downloaded the trial version and checked for updates now is that all i have to do.
For some reason (happened last time i downloaded it) it will not always connect to my e mail. it will just keep searching when i look for incoming e mails. and then my server times out.
Any suggestions?

uninstall and try downloading from here
