During the huge rainstorm a couple weeks ago, my friends basement flooded along causing his PS2 and all the controllers to be soaked as well. He hasn't tried using the system since this happened and it has been unplugged all the time. Is there a way to dry the system so that it can be used again or is it just better to buy a new one?

If it got covered in water, chances are it is toast. A hair dryer would be the best thing but I doubt it will work again. Get most of the water dried up first with a towel but anything electronic will most likely be history if covered in water.

The best thing to do would be to open it up the best you can and just let it sit and dry. Give it plenty of time and try to make sure that the water is gone from all the nooks and crannies.

If it wasn't plugged in when it got flooded then there is a good chance that it will work fine once completely dry. Water alone won't destroy circutry, but water combined with electricity will.

just let it sit for a long long long time......don't plug it in for at least a few weeks.

Same thing happened with my cell(fell in water) and I let it sit for a couple weeks and it turned out fine and continued to work.

Or if you want, u can buy a new one, they're pretty cheap from what they used to be.

Buy another and then return the wet one.

You could also try a can of compressed air

let it dry, open it up for sure. if it was plugged in then chances are at least the psu is unrecoverable. Chances are good if it wasnt plugged in. The psu can be had cheap if thats all it is. If it is that it won't power on (no red light).

Good Luck

as long as it wasn'y powered and the thing was cleaned and opedned quick enough to aviod water damager drying it out for a few days may fix things.

If it was plugged in it still carrys a small amount of power through the psu circuitry, even if powered off. It could be enough to damage that, but the mobo should still be fine.

depends on how long it was unpluged.

after a day the charge left in it would have been long gone and it would come down to possible water damage.
