Linspire is great, IF you have a fast computer, and don't mind paying for free software. I found it very slow, very memory hungry, and seeing as you have to pay for it, it doesn't come with very much built in software. You can always get more for it, if you sign up for the Linspire Warehouse, which is rather pricey if you ask me. For what it end up costing you, you may as well just run Windows, which Linspire tries to emulate.

If you're looking for a good Linux distro, that is easy enough for the beginer, then I would try Xandros (http://www.xandros.com/), which is free, and full of useful software, has a great updater, and runs pretty fast. Look for the "Open Circulation (Bit Torrent download)" link.

Good luck.
