Boy, how "Shaft" brings back memories...

I played in the high school jazz band and our take of Shaft (without any vocals) is what won us a Canadian Championship ("battle of the bands" thing), many moons ago which was MC'd on CBC by Chuck Mangione (http://www.chuckmangione.com/).

I played both guitar and lead trumpet in that band. It took me hours of practice to get the hang of the "wah wah" chuck-a-long at the beginning of the tune. The lead trumpet part wasn't too bad.

Ah, the memories...

RIP Mr. Hayes :(
