Not a pet, but this little guy showed up at our 2nd floor balcony at dinnertime today. Couldn't figure out how to get over the hanging box planters so he finally retreated and dropped to the ground.

Thats pretty much how we got our cat when I lived at my parents. Stray cat used to come by and help me BBQ. Eventually it just never left. Had it for 10 years. Turned it into a indoor cat.
I dont advice you not to keep the racoon as a pet as you see in this video.

They're so cute, but what mischievious little buggers they are. I have what is possibly is a family of them living under my deck. They turned the lever to the gas feed for my bbq and fireplace off. lol
make sure they dont try to turn it back on when noones there lol

Great pics. Yes, they look cute, but if cornered they can be very dangerous. Am glad you didnt panic and try to frighten it off. But guess you need to racoon proof your balcony a bit more.
