No longer getting e-mails

Hello,

I used to get an e-mail every time I got a PM, but for the past week or week 1/2 I have not been getting any e-mails but I will have new PM.

I have gone in and made sure the option to send me an e-mail is checked (which it is) but still nothing.

Still not getting any e-mails when I have a new PM or if somebody replies to a thread that I'm subscribed to.

Deb recently upgraded the board to a newer version of vB, and there are some glitches to fix which she is working on.

I reset your settings.

But quite honestly, I've tried everything with my own settings, and nothing works as it should. I get PM notifications up to 12 hours late, and as an Admin, reported posts intermittently late and sometimes not ever.

Good luck, that's all I know how to try, sometimes it works, but quite often not.

but still no fix. I guess it was from a recent board update? Maybe you guys should reinstall everything some time in the future?

I personally dont come on this forum as much as I used to because I just dont get emails that people have replied to my topics so I forget about it, & being on other forums keeps me busy.

So im sure you guys have lost some activity on these forums from things like this?

Hi Tess....I'm having the same problem....I had this problem a few years ago and I believe you re-set back then to help me out.

I will try, but I am not getting any email notifications myself, as well as a couple of other mods I've asked, I havent heard from any members on this subject recently, until this. So I dont know if it's an isolated by member issue. It may be a board thing, and until Deb finishes upgrading the problem may persist. I know mine began with the restoration of a backup when the planned upgrade didnt work.

I will reset though and see if it helps you..

Sickcars; My friend signed up for a new account here and did not get any email to confirm her account! She's still waiting. So, obviously, there is a problem.

We will be upgrading to vb4 this weekend (time permitting). If I don't get it done over the weekend, it should be shortly thereafter. Hopefully this will resolve all the annoying issues folks are having.

I had fixed it for a little. Put in another email (gmail) and it worked for a few months but now It has stopped again & I dont know why....

Any ideas mods?

hopefully it fixes the issue but I dont have my hopes up since I have been having this issue for Months now & its 1 of the reasons why I no longer come on their forum as much... simple because I dont know if somebody has replied or if I have a PM and I'm not going to check this site every day lol.

Ok...Its Monday morning....Thought I'd post and see if i get an email when someone else posts after me...

Hopefully everything is fixed...email feature is great,especially when you have posts in multiple threads or older posts in Home and Garden,etc.

The board hasnt been upgraded yet, so unless what I did fixed you, there probably wont be any joy.

Anyway..see if you get notification for a subscribed thread.

So very true! This forum is a labour of love for these two. They work very hard and still have a business to run as well as have time for a personal life. When it gets done, it gets done. At least the forum is running and we can help each other. That is the important thing!!

It's not just backing you up. I've been a fan of TCM going back a long, long time. I know the reason why Les started this. It's simply his love of computer technology and being a kind and helpful person. TCM service quality and value is bar none from any other place I know of.

If people want their email notifications so badly, I'm sure there are pay forums (http://www.experts-exchange.com/) around they can join.

Golly I come in here everyday more than once a day. I love reading peoples posts and gain a lot from some of them. Actually I really didn't know about this email thing that folks are talking about so I guess I haven't missed it.

The next VB upgrade is huge. I have to ensure our server is working top notch with the latest base software to get a good, proper backup of our database. Once I've got that backup and it has been tested, I will proceed onto the upgrade.

Once the upgrade is done, you'll know right off the bat because our house will look completely different here.

Again, this is going to be a big change for us. In all likelyhood, the upgrade will go but there is always that possiblity it may fail so I also have to do alot of manual backing up of folders on the server as well.

It appears to me that in this new version, default is email notification off, you will have to go into your, SETTINGS, at the top right of the forums page and then go down the list to FORUM SETTINGS and check receive email notifications..mine was off, as were the other two profiles I checked.

Check this first.

Deb did the updates and found the error for in the emails , you should be getting them now , let us know if there is still a problem.
We will be doing many updates and clean up in the days that follow ..

Getting the time lately is hard but it will come , also more video tips , tricks and stuff you would not even have thought of :)
