Isn't it something like a cup of cream and a can of mushroom soup? Poor it all in and let it go?

I was going to scan my swedish cookbook, then realised that perhaps you don't read swedish. I guess I could translate, but this receipe comes pretty close to the one in my cookbook (not quite but close). You want tangy add whatever you feel like.................

Swedish Meat Balls

1 pound of ground beef
1/2 pound of ground pork
1/2 cup of finely chopped onion (I sautee first)
3/4 cup of dry bread crumbs
1/2 cup of milk
1 1/2 teaspoon of salt
1/8 teaspoon of pepper (white is best, but black works too)
1/8 teaspoon of nutmeg
Dash allspice
1 egg
2 tablespoons of shortening
1/4 cup of flour
2 cups of water
2 beef bouillon cubes (or whatever stock)

Combine ground beef, pork, onion, bread crumbs, milk, salt, pepper, nutmeg, allspice and egg into bowl. Blend well. Shape into balls about 1 inch thick. Brown on all sides in shortening in skillet. Remove meatballs. Stir in flour into drippings and cook until flour browns. Add water and bouillon cubes, cook stirring constantly, until mixture comes to a full boil. Reduce heat. Add meatballs, cover and simmer 15-20 minutes. Tip: To make round meatballs; dip hands into cold water before shaping.

Not sure of the entire recipe, but I know my mom adds a can of pineapples to it. It gives it the tangy taste you're after.

cooks.com sounds like a good bet. Of course I would dare except I have this stupid gastro problem that wrecks havoc with most things I eat. I still like to think about things I once could eat though. Hope you get your 'tang'.:)

Ikea sells the Lingonberry sauce to go with their meatballs. Tangy and good.

Oh ya, I forgot about that, I had a jar 2 years ago I also got a packet of cream sauce along with their meatballs to try them out, I prefer my own but the lingonberry sauce is good.

I did it I did it I finally got the recipe that i wanted thanks to my friend for looking all over the kitchen for the recipe because the lady they had it is now deceased
so I have it under lock and key now here it is if anyone wants it.
thanks everyone

THE SWEDISH MEATBALLS:
2lbs. hamurg
1 egg
1 tsp. poultry seasoning
1 cup of bread crumbs
3 tbsps. soya sauce and pepper to taste
(for the above I cheat and buy the ready made frozen meatballs they are only around $7.99)
Mix and form into balls, whatever size you want the balls to be. Bake on a cookie sheet about 10 min. or until they look cooked but not too long so tthey will be hard (375 oven)

SAUCE:
1 cup pineapple juice
1/2 cup soya sauce
1 cup vinegar
1 cup water
1 1/2 cups sugar
4 tbsp. cornstarch

Mix and cook over low heat until thickened and add meatballs, heat until warmed through. Can be eaten with rice or on toothpicks or however you wish
