hey there,

sorry if I posted on the wrong forum, but I want to know some advice about if I ever copy a DVD movie into a DVD-R or DVD+R, i may have the risk that the picture might freeze. You see I have an LG GSA-4163 DVD burner (which also burns Dual Layer discs and can burn on either + or - formats) that burns at 16x for both DVD-R and DVD+R. I haven't started to make copies of DVDs as of yet.

My advice is if I make a copy of my favourite movie, let's say a skateboarding movie to a DVD-R media that is rated at 2x speed, will I encounter some freezing on the DVD? Also, I have two programs DVD Shrink and the Nero DVD-copier (don't know what name it is, however).

Has anyone experienced a similar or same scenario before? If so, what are the steps did you take to prevent this from happening?

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

best advice I can give is burn at the slowest speed and use good quality
DVDs.

As Ken said, lower speeds and good quality media.

I keep on buying -R media because some time back the +R used to have compatability issues with standalone DVD players.

Probably they have improved over time but old habits die hard.

I have had freezing problems on dual-layer media (Ridata). On viewing when layer switch freezing begins.

Ditto that!

Futureshop has a good special on at the moment, 50pk Memorex - or + 16X for only $17.99. I burn at 2X and they're great.

Feedbacks of the Memorex brand with DVD discs has been mixed from end users (http://www.videohelp.com/dvdmedia.php?dvdmediasearch=memorex&dvdmediadvdridsearch=&type=6&size=4.7&dvdburnspeed=8&order=Name&hits=25&country=CA&search=Search+or+List+Media).
