ad aware trying to run

I have been trying to run Ad aware-se but it gets to a certain point and then I get a windows error, (blue screen, hit alt del to fix). I can never get ad adware to complete its scan. What can I do?

You might have a bad download. Delete it and download it again.

I tried downloading a fresh version of Ad aware se but I still get computer lock up when it runs. Could spyware embedded in the pc cause the ad aware program to shut down?
I can't use the cleaner since my "trial period" has expired. same for spyware doctor.
Sugestions?

Try downloading and running Spybot S&D (http://www.safer-networking.org/en/)

If you have Norton Internet Security running on your computer it can interfer with 'spyware' scanners, so you need to disable it and try again.

Could spyware embedded in the pc cause the ad aware program to shut down?



I have the same problem with Spybot on one of my computers (runs great on the other one). It happened after being infected with Cool Web Search (CWShredder says it's gone). I've tried everything short of reformatting to fix it and finally gave up. I read that some spyware can make changes on the system that disables some anti-spyware programs. It's too bad too because I find that Sypbot sometimes finds things that my other anti-spyware programs miss.

Try running Spy and Ad-aware in Safe mode maybe?
