Yesterday I installed a game called 18 wheels of steel and I could install it and once it would go to the begining of the game it would completly freeze up my computer and I would have to reboot. When I went back to Future shop they told me to up date my video drivers and it may solve the problem
Well when I got home I looked up my device and here is what I found
ATI Radeon 9100 1GP
Driver version 5.0.3790.2
so I went to the website and found something and updated my driver and now I can't keep from having my comp. freeze up on me every 5 minutes. so I removed 18 wheels of steel and than it tells me that my new device is not working properly and when I went to my devices I found this yellow ? and I put Windows XP in to detect my video card and it tells me that I have a newer version then what is on the cd...
WOA is me
can anyone help me.
I am finding along with the freeze up now I also have the browser is too big for the screen and when you scroll down it is really choppy.

In the properties for your vid card, is there a button that permits reverting to an older driver?
Or you may be able to remove the drivers totally by deleteing that error and the card it refers to, then reboot.
Windows should reload the drivers on boot up or at least provide the wizzard to install the card's drivers.

From your device manager .... you posted a pic of the problem from the device manager.
Highlight and click on Properties that should get you to the section you want.

Once you remove or delete the reference to the vid card then re boot Windows should search for the drivers upon booting up.
That alone may fix your problem.
If not go into the properties and update the driver then re boot again. ( I believe it does permit using an older driver from there)

Maybe you should restore your PC from a previous time stamp prior to when you started having problems.
Some of the later changes won't work but if it freezes, then at least you can go back to a time prior to the start of the problem even if that means going back a month to get a good restore point.
(I asume you are running XP or Me)

The ATI Radeon 9100 IGP is an onboard video chip. To upgrade the drivers, or in your case to replace the drivers, you should use the motherboard manufactures files. Download and run Belarc Adrisor (http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html) and tell us what mobo you have.

Drivers for your board can be found here: http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?Type=All&model=P4R800-VM
It looks like version v7.95 is the last upgrade.
Also it should be stated that ATI driver updating can be a real pain in the glutes. Make sure that you have completly uninstalled the old drivers before installing the new ones. A good portion of the 9000 series cards have a funky reaction with XP.

If you are running XP which I asume you do, just go to your control panel and choose Performance and maintenence click there and it will provide more choices, in the upper left margin there should be more choices, one of which should say "System Restore" click there and follow the instructions.
It will show a calendar, with highlighted dates, those highlights are the days where XP has put in a timestamp backup. Choose one from a day prior to your troubles, click and permit it to do it's thing. After system reboots it will let you know if it was successful or not, if not choose another date and try again.
I messed up my system a couple of times and this saved me a lot of hassle.
