I have an old p133 for my kids and the original 1.6g HD died. I installed an IBM 30g Deskstar drive I had laying around but the old bios only recognized 8g. I figured 8g was better than nothing...
During install of win2000 I was able to format and install win2000 on the previously unrecognized HD space.
After install I had access to all 30g even though the bios only recognized 8g.
cool. :)

thats interesting normally doesn't work that way.
I would be careful if you plan on using partitioning
software. it may cause problems.

Most Linux distros recognize those larger drives on older machines too.
Windows 2000 on a P133Mhz? Must be slow - I would never put anything newer than 98 on a system like that.

You probably need drive overlay software, bios's that old simply cannot recognize a drive of that size. Google drive overlay software, you can probably even get it from your HD's manufacturers website.

Forums are full of people who never read all of the post but occasionally some people just miss the main point.
