Sort of a mucus like discharge and its sort of half open some of the time.

In all other ways he seems fine and he was playing with his brother the day before so he could have got it from that.

What do you think?

Sounds like the cat has an eye infection. Maybe the other cat scratched his eye? I'd get it checked out. Probably needs some drops of some soft to clear it.

Thought that may be the case or merely a scratch like us humans get.

We shall see what happens in a day and if it stays the same or gets worse then vet it is.

A simple scratch should start healing on its own by then.

It could be an infection, or a hair (ingrown) growing in on the wrong side of the lid. Scratch probably wouldnt cause a discharge like that unless it's become infected, although it might water profusely at first. The discharge indicates infection, it may clear up on it's own or it may not. If it's cloudy or greenish and becomes crusty, I would say infection.

I've had this with one of mine off and on so it's chronic for him, the vet gives me ointment to put in it, I think it was some kind of tetracyclin, but dont have any at the moment to check. If you can, wash it with warm water, dry it and see what happens with it after that..if it's infected it should get crusty.

If it's not gone tomorrow, I'd get it looked at, since it's chronic here, my vet will give me this over the phone without the visit, which as you know is expensive. ($55. for my vet, $22.50 for rechecks of the same nature)

Good luck and I hope it clears up on it's own.

Don't leave it too long. Eye infections should not be given the chance to fester. The sooner he is looked at the better.

Fortunately it looks like it was just his brother after all.
He is nearly back to normal..so all ends well.

A little spat over catnip, food, a toy, or maybe he was just sleeping. cats will do that.

We have one, can't figure him out.
Always trying to get our dogs.
