My daughter got a Toshiba Notebook as part of her course last fall at Nippissing Yniversity, and it started acting up on Thursday.... freezing and then BSOD....

Kernal input page errors and kernal Data page errors.... started to look at it last night, deleted old files, defraged, scanned it for viruses and then cleaned it with Adaware... still acted up so I disabled system restore.

Crapped out during the night and when I went to restore everything from the restore disk it refused to boot and am now getting an unrecoverable boot volumn error and refused to boot up.

Worst thig is that the warranty expired on July 5, 2005.

I called Toshiba support and asked about a grace period since it was only a couple of days and they said expired is expired.....

They gave me the name of a Computer store in Waterloo that repairs Toshiba notebooks but I called them and they are closed on Saturdays (Mainway on King North)

I have a local guy (IBC Computers in Brantford) looking at it.

Any suggestions on what the problem might be on insite on dealing with the warranty.

Sorry to hear that Marsher.
There was a massive Toshiba laptop "recall" last fall.

I think they announced it Nov. 1. There were 27 different laptop models affected

They've taken it off their website, but here's 2 news articles about it:

Edit:

Here's Toshiba's web page on it, before they took it down ( the links work):
