Swordfish asked the question, here (http://www.thecomputermechanics.com/forums/showpost.php?p=31499&postcount=37) so I thought I'd oblige :d

As Les just said... it keeps his comments in his own lil corner instead of mixed within the rest of the 'Hot Topics' forum ;)

What? I was only asking :hst:

I understand why TCM made that forum and thats fine, but Walter seems to think he's untoucable in there I've seen some of the comments and I've seen the swearing and I really don't think thats appropriate for TCM

It dosn't bother me personally I mearly look at it as Entertainment but why can't one person so opinionated post in the hot topics forum? :rrg:

Same here Swordfish. Personally, I don't care either way. This is only the internet and it amazes me how some people take him so friggin' seriously by constantly responding to his posts.

lol.......

If Tim and Jovin didn't reply to his posts, his forum would die a quick death :)

Like I said, I couldn't care less one way or the other.

walter most of the time is a cranky old fart with a bad additude but he does bring up some good topics and keeps us thinking.

and trust me he doesn't get away with stuff.

LOL I agree with that part

I understand that, but WE are the the ones that half to deal with the hurt feelings, we half to clean up the crap , we half to take flak when he complains about threads being moved etc.

I dont mean any dis repect towards walter, but this is where I'm comming from :hsh:

Boycott it is then and allow me to be the first one.
whether you post a wise crack or a legitimate response the end result is the same Walter will put you down and/or insult you.
I've seen it for years and this is why he has his own little space;
so he does not mingle with the rest of us.
Enjoy your life Walter !!

Yes, this is the best approach. I find Walter to be intellectually dishonest in his "debating style", therefore I rarely participate in his threads.

Tim
09-30-2005, 09:57 AM
sorry MM, I'm probably as guilty as Walter is at this point. Although I made him freak out recently that was rather funny.
I used to actually try to take him at face value at one time and respond as if he was serious. Now it's just post whatever I can to get a rise. If he posts utter crap, I just post it back and don't feel bad. I figure if he's allowed a forum to do that BS then I will dish it back :)
Yea I know it's getting old. Thats why I'm putting my own threads in the hot topics or elsewhere to have actual discussion.

09-30-2005, 09:57 AM
No offence I think its kinda funny somedays :)Maybe moving the forum out of Hot Topics to be a sub-forum of the "Just For Laughs" forum would be more intellectually-honest and realistic.

That gets my vote. It would be much more representative of the content.

Ok , Walter (I know your reading this Walter so post you old coot :) ) has been around for a long time ,, We have met him at events and as of this and last year he has always seemed to piss people off with out really trying .. (or trying) by posting threads that this well read man has opinions on (or to spark people and get them pissed )

So with complaints from people that someone has forced them to read a complete paragraph from a WALTER post (must have been like chained to the desk and some strange EYE opener clamp installed .. funny how so many people have this WALTER post READER forcer drop by , we think his name is Tim or Swordy (haha) ) or they refuse to click the ignore button so they are not forced to see the blasphomey forced on to them.

So the best option was to send Walter to the corner ... WE did :)

Now some how the darn READ A WALTER POST ENFORCER has caused these same people to double click one forum lower to be infuriated !

Next thought is that Walters forum is now one that every one will look at because of this Fan club ... "Any press is good press"

Lastly

Walter , I hope you are following the guidlines of kindness to everyone .. including and more so the MODS and Admins (as thier job is thankless) ... and respect everyone on the board as do we ..

Thanks my two cents with fun :)

I'm not sure why this is so hard to figure out.

Wally posts crap. And I post it back. Simple.

No one forces me to do it.

Does Wally somehow have the corner on being a dick in a forum?

I look at it for Entertainment purposes as I stated above . I think its funny when Tim and Wally go "At it" ( no offence guys) :) if I see a thread thats warrented I'll respond with what I think is a good opinion.

After all just because I have been mod here for ages Dosnt mean I'm not entitled to an opinion like the next person is fair is fair right?

I can more then understand why you would want to get his goat or just post to anoy him (i seem to remember doing to someone in the mac forum who took computers way to seriously).

In the end though its pointless and a waste of time and can be harmful to the whole forum.
its tough sometimes being the bigger person but this place deserves that from us.

walter isn't a bad or evil man just a bitter one who at time i think just wants to argue to talk to people and this is the only way he knows how to.

This post actually had me confused for a little while. At first I thought someone bumped a really old post, but since the first post was made yesterday and we lost the old posts, I figured that wasn't true. Then I was thinking "wth he has his own forum". I figured it out after reading a few posts though :d

And the voting numbers don't jive with the actual views the forum gets. ;)

It's too bad that some TCM members are causing extra work for Mods. If you guys start getting paid for what you do then it's OK :)

exactly Lesley I would rather have him in his room than running amok in the TCM house pissing everyone off
That is why I opted for the Boycott.

I've only interacted with Walter a few times on this board. A couple of times were on a positive note. A few times were on a very negative note. I can honestly say that he verbally attacked me for having a difference of opinion to his. I don't need that. He's best somewhere away from the general population
