i don't think there have been any games that take advantage of these fast cpus and vcards..crysis gave most computers hard times to get smooth refresh rates or maybe that was just me..

Amazing how many people will lol at each other to feel better about themselves. My opinion is pretty much in favour with popular opinion 's about gaming and gaming rigs. I think the more money you put into your system , the better but I just wonder how many people no longer build the best of the best anymore to play pc games
Mine's a gaming rig with alot of dough thrown at it but I've not had a lick of trouble with it and it has served me well.
Game on :hiya:
Its too bad OSX is not a gaming OS. It will be the first true OS to support x64bit computing and multicore processors. I haven't seen a windows system do that yet... for games either.
Does Crysis utilize all cores? or is it just like every other game..

The first true os to support x64bit and multicore would be linux but it nearly always the first do such things do to its massive open source base.
There always way ahead of ever one else when its comes to such stuff.
Sadly it like os-x is not a gaming platform.
There are a few games that hit multicores and more coming but crysis would be the first and by far the most demanding.
That game well make even the best system run like hell just to use all the settings in it.

At this point there are few game titles that truely require the horse power that people build into their PCs. I built my self a mid range system 3 years ago with a budget of about 1000.oo and it has done me quite well over the past few years. To me and its just my opinion, PC gamers are better off building rigs that are one generation older then whats new and all fancy aka .. Pricey!! The evolution, especially of CPU's is developing rediculously fast and software titles have not kept pace. Im going to go with value over Bling !

The other side of that is it does future proof alittle.
Still can't really see spending on some of the high end video cards now since i don't see any titles that require that kind of power.

I have never been able to future proof
I built my current PC from scratch (well, mostly) with comfortably editing home video (HDV) in mind. I used to game on my PC, but could never justify spending money on high-end video cards and always went mid-end. Now I do all my gaming, which isn't much, on consoles -- no hardware or driver issues to deal with and the graphics are good enough on both my Wii and Xbox 360.
When my current PC tanks, I'll probably buy a laptop from Dell or HP that is suitable for photos/video and continue to stick with consoles for games.

Get yourself something like the Q6600 & you're halfway there.
As for Crysis, it was somewhat known as the game that could cripple hi-end machines.
I run it on Win7 with a Q6600 & 4GBs of RAM & a 9800 GT.
