Sadly, we have lost Martin Streek in an apparent suicide. Martin was a long time edge 102 (cfny) personality who was (to our surprise) let go from the station in May of this year. His shows at the station included The Thursday 30, Saturday nights at the Phoenix and Sunday nights at Velvet Underground, both in downtown Toronto.

This one is especially dear to Neal and I. With both of us being huge '80's retro fans, Streek was king of the era for Toronto. We had just spoken about him last week.

Thanks for the music Martin and...
Better watch out for the skindeep...

I just read an e-mail from some of my friends telling me of this sad news. I was quite upset with CFNY at his departure.
Martin brought such energy to the retro era music and new so, so much about the bands. Him and I are huge Stranglers fans.
My buddies daughter was communicating with him on Facebook just hour before he was found.
I'll miss him and I'll morn the loss with tears.
Neal.

Edge 102 is doing "the music of Martin Streek" Sunday night, 5-8pm. I'll be listening for sure:
