Does anyone know if there is a version of Day of the Tenticle that you can play on winXP? I remembered that game as a kid... but havent found anything that plays for more than 20 seconds.
Did you try ScummV? I think that is what it was called. I had no trouble running it on that.

Great game! I play it occasionally using DoSBOX. It's a DOS emulator that allows you to play older games that don't work in a Windows environment.

check that out. It works great for those lucas arts point and click games.

This was a classic sequel to the original "Maniac Mansion". Anyone remember the game copy protection that they used? After you get into the game, and actually get to the front door of the house, there's a combination lock that won't allow you to continue in the game until you enter the "combination" - which was entering words on key pages from the game manual such as "Page 7, 3rd paragraph, 10th word" - it was always random, and people just photocopied the game manual. However, this was before the internet and it worked, somewhat in keeping unauthorized copies from working.

ALL old games had that, it was neat to get a few more chotskys with those old games. Sometimes it required more work like spinning wheels (http://www.vintagecomputing.com/index.php/archives/174), adult trivia (Leisure Suit Larry) or large maps which were more work to photocopy...
To OP: to play lots of those old games download DOSBOX as someone above suggested and search sites like Good Ol Games (http://www.gog.com/) or Abandonia (http://www.abandonia.com/)
Abandonia direct link to game and it's discussion forum (http://www.abandonia.com/en/games/17/Day+of+the+Tentacle.html)
Day of the tentacle is one game id like to find a copy of. I managed to get The dig and Full Throttle not long ago. Also now that my PC is up and running i want to finish the last two monkey ilsand games as well as the longest journey and runaway 1 and 2.
