Is it possible to repair XP with a live linux disk and if so which version would be best. I was trying to do a repair with a slipstreamed xp disk and it said a file was corupt, got out me legit xp disk and it wouldn't recognize the drive because it was too big but now it won't boot, guessing mbr is corupt.
I'm hoping I can fix it with a live linux disk.
thanks

Perhaps. You can also try downloading SuperGrubDisk or a boot version of Gparted to try and resurrect your MBR.

You can just repair the MBR with a Windows 98 bootdisk

fdisk /mbr

I'm late finding this thread. Parted Magic is a very useful live Linux CD. You can use it to edit all files on a Windows system, alter and create partitions, and it runs a Linux system complete with a lot of apps right from the CD.
