Last night I received the aforementioned WOW video virus link via facebook, and now today I have been hijacked by Total Security 4.25, it is limiting severely everything I can do, especially browsing. Please instruct me on how to rid my PC of this extremely malicious software!

Thank you.

This (http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20090822150536AALF0qq) might help you out a bit. Seems you just have to remove the software under Add/Remove programs under the control panel.

Or This (http://www.spywarevoid.com/remove-total-security-totalsecurity-removal-tutorial.html) could help also.

I would try to run Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 1.40 you can get it here http://download.cnet.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/3000-8022_4-10804572.html?tag=mncol

Thank you Deathhawk and Les. This is a pretty good one, the second link Deathhawk put up helped a lot

It said to reboot into safe mode f8, and go into system restore, and restore about a week before the event happened.

I have done this, and my comp is good now, I am going to change my FB password, and every other dang password before the day is done, as the total security virus was definitely an intrusive password stealer, attempting to get me to buy a 'full version' and constantly spamming me with pop ups of 'threats', it disabled me from using almost any program. I hope this helps more ppl, because by the sounds of it, it takes facebook by storm

How it happened to me:
A friend posted a link on my wall that said 'WOW video' and resembled pretty well a youtube link, I clicked it and magically a setup icon appeared on my desktop. Then it vanished as soon as it appeared. That was last night. I posted on my friends wall 'is this a virus', then today his facebook account is gone, the post he made on my wall is gone, and suddenly 'Total Security 4.25' has infiltrated my system.

I plan to run malware bytes as suggested, any more suggestions please let me know, to make sure it is completely gone! If a restore isnt enough I want to know.

This is a virus that must be very current and affecting many facebook users, I read somewhere that after you click the video link, it automatically spams at least 7 of your contacts with the same 'WOW video' post.

I got lucky this time! First virus in 6 years that made it past the radar...

Thanks again all.
