I'm at a friend's house and i'm trying to format his drive and install Windows Xp Home. He currently has Professional edition and plenty of spyware. I executed a ton of anti-spyware software, but they will not be removed.

Anyway, I insert the CD and restart the comp, and it initializes the setup process. When the setup is initializing the "Windows Setup" (i guess to access the menu) it display an error. The code is "STOP: 0x0000006 (0............).
Numbers are also in the brackets but is not important. I did a search of this error, and the causes might be from recently Installed hard, or software. It says i should remove some hardware and try again until the error is gone. But before I go into such a tedious procedure i'd like some more input. Does anyone know what i'm talking about? If so please reply asap and help me with this.

THX IN ADVANCE!!

Another way is to download a win98 boot disk, run fdisk and format. Although I don't think this will work if the hard drive is NTFS.

Check out the links in my signature aboutfdisk and formatting.

BlueVertigo that guide would be very useful if I can actually get into the setup menu. The problem is just before it displays the menu it gives me an error.

Please, anymore suggestions?

Have you tried installing Windows XP using a bootdisk?
