All sound stops when I enter a game... [Archive]

Everytime I go into Warcraft 3: Frozen Throne the sound just... stops. I always have music playing when I'm in this game. Anyways, all sound comes to a stop when I'm in the game, but the second I exit the game it starts up again which makes NO sense. If I alt-tab out of the game I can see the track still going, but no sound is coming out of my speakers. This has never happened, just started tonight. Also, no other game affects the music/sound.

Okay, the problem got worse... I wouldn't be able to go into programs or anything after executing Warcraft... So, I decided to reinstall the game... which didn't help. My music STILL stops when I go into the game. All sound just stops.

Please, someone must know what's going on... I can't figure it out. This just happened all of a sudden the other day...

Not familiar with games but can you check the in-game settings to see if it's turning the sound off?

Did a virus scan just for the hell of it but it didn't come up with anything.

Well, I've always had music on while playing this game and it has never done this before. I usually have in-game sounds and music turned off so they don't interfer with my music, but I turned them on to see if maybe NO sound was working with the game on, but the in-game sound does indeed work.

I really can't figure this out, it's very weird. One day all sound just doesn't work when this game is running. Period.

I'm going through a similiar thing with TFC from STEAM where as soon as the loading window appears, I can no longer hear people in teamspeak. Same with in game untill I alt-tab out then back then I can hear them again. This also dosappears when I fall into water or out of the map.
very frustrating.

Ha, does that mean I'm going to have to reinstall Windows for it to work? No one knows?

Oh well, I'm getting my new computer shipped to me within the next few days (hopefully, the slow *******s they are). I'll be formatting this and the new comp at that time.
