I was running 3 computers off of a linksys router, now it seems one of the computers (Win xp home) has disappeared from my network. I cannot access the internet or do any file sharing with it and it no longer appears in my workgroup.
I have tried a direct connection to my Rogers modem, tried a new ethernet cable, ran a virus detector, unplugged both modem and router, I opened my computer up to make sure the network card was clean and secure (the light on the back of the card is green as usual) and I have made sure that I checked off "Automatically detect settings" in the LAN settings tab.
A few things that seem a bit odd is that when I remove the ethernet cable I normally get a message saying a wire has been unplugged, this doesn't happen anymore and also when I try to open up IE if the connection is usual messed up because of the router or modem it usual takes about 15 seconds for the cannot find server page to come up after it goes through trying to detect proxies, but now it just quickly jumps up Cannot find server. These symptoms have led to believe that the problem is in a windows setting.
Any help is appreciated.
