White House denies Bush God claims.

Taken from a press briefing yesterday:

[Q Have you ever heard the President say that God told him to invade Afghanistan and Iraq and --

MR. McCLELLAN: No, and I've been in many meetings with him and never heard such a thing.

Q Are you aware of the -- there's a BBC broadcast tonight that's quoting the Palestinian Prime Minister and Foreign Minister as saying that they were in a meeting with the President in June of '03, and there are some very detailed quotes here, saying that the President said to them, "God told me, 'George, go and fight those terrorists in Afghanistan,' and I did," and then "God told me, 'George go and end the tyranny in the Iraq'" and so forth and so on?

MR. McCLELLAN: No, that's absurd. He's never made such comments.

Q Were you in the meeting when that took place?

MR. McCLELLAN: I've been in meetings with him with President Abbas; I didn't travel on that trip, if you're talking about to Jordan. But I've been in many meetings with the President with world leaders where he's talked about this.

Q So you don't know about the June '03 meeting?

MR. McCLELLAN: No, I checked into that report and I stand by what I just said.]

Seen it, and it's worth nothing.

I'm not a Bush fan and wouldn't be surprised if he said something along those lines but the source should be considered in all this as well.

ie: Palestinian Authority Prime Minister Abu Mazen

"After all, this is Abu Mazen's account in Arabic of what Bush said in English, written down by a note-taker in Arabic, then back into English."

The fact that there are different versions floating around of what was allegedly said is reason enough to question the validity.

Yeah but consider the alternative.....what would you have gotten from the Mr. flip flop to please everyone guy. Mr. for the war against the war, for gays against gays for freedom of speech againts...........At least Bush sticks to his guns. Don't get me wrong I feel neither was qualified to be president, but again considering the other guy....Bush wins hands down.

Still does not change the fact that he is a nutbar. What is worse is that it preys on the millions of god believing population in order to further justify his actions by having people on his side that say "well if god said so.....hot diggity, then so do we".

It's nice to play the religion card.....funny how every country does it. Never assume responsibility for your actions....always blame it on the other guy.

You believe all the neo con press on Kerry? I'm not a huge of fan of Kerry, but I'd like to hear a little more on why you think Bush is so much more qualified than Kerry! Bush is currently destroying America, and quickly.

Bush never experienced war in the trenches whereas Kerry did in VietNam. I would take Kerry's word over Bush's any day when it comes to the realities of warfare.

I fail to see where I said that Bush was more qualified. I just said considering the other guy, I felt Bush was better. Please tell me where there was no flip flop from Kerry when he would do live it on national television. Easy to say do you believe the neo con press, where is your proof that he did NOT flip flop? And incidently my good man when it comes to politics I do NOT believe everything I read in the paper because every journalist writes in their own perspective.

It is fine to say that he is destroying America....it makes me laff. So many people feel he is ruining the country and yet no one, NO GROUP of people stand together and do a damn thing about it. So if he was doing that bad of a job, and society felt pushed too far, I believe society would fight back. Would not be the first time a President was impeached. So it is so easy to sit back and complain about the person running & ruining a country.....but unless someone does something about it.....whining is just a waste of time.
