View Full Version : problem viewing home page with Ubuntu / firefox
using Ubuntu 9.10 and firefox 3.5.7
The Computer Mechanics Home page is a mess RSS scrolling feeds take up most of my page over lapping main page text if I scroll zoom out to move rss feed off to side as they should be then I can't read text in centre of page as text too small; no way to get rid of side bar that I see.
other web sites perfect. before change over home page perfect.
1024 x 768 4:3 screen resolution.
any Ideas to solve this one.
Just used my laptop with win7 and firefox 3.5.7 same problem.
laptop with Win 7 and IE no problem so leads to believe Firefox 3.5.7 is the issue.

Has 3.6 been released for your platform?
I'm on MacOSX and it's been released. Check for an update.

Noticed it works using IE tab but the website is slow in IE tab mode for Firefox.

Press ' Ctrl - ' to resize the page until it fits. Works for me in firefox on Linux.

Firefox and the RSS feed combo doesn't work that well at all. It even truncates the "Proudly Hosted by Coloss" ad.
The speed using the IE tab mode is fine for me but the "Welcome to the TCM family" section is waaaay at the bottom and the RSS feed is fine.
I visited the vBulletin forum using Firefox and they don't use the RSS feed at all so maybe the fix hasn't been found yet or maybe the width is set too high.
I just updated firefox to 3.6 with Win 7 on laptop now it works fine.
Desktop with Ubuntu there is a way to add 3.6 but I can, and will wait for firefox to push auto update; it will be soon.
Thanks to all for the great help as always a good team here.
I've Resized/Moved modules around on the main page to try and correct the overlapping issue with other browsers and lower resolution settings. Please check it out and post here to let me know if it's better or worse :)
