Ok guys, Remember i got my flash stick for my birthday (1gig SanDisk). I ahev DamSmallLinux ( I have had many problems in the past with it but oh well) and I wanna stick it on my flash stick. I have read alot of tutorials, but they really make not alot of sense. Anyone tried this before, even with another flavour of linux? I just wanna be able to stick my flash drive in and have it load up linux (even on boot is fine). and If so - How did You do it?!

Any help? Please - my Linux guy has secluded himself at his cottage for a while.

and it has. I was on the internet last night until 4 in the morning. I finally went to a mirc linux room, and they said that SLAX could be installed using a program called MySLAX. Tried it, and it still didnt work. But then I found out that booting to your USB key all the time is a good way to screw up your boot sector on it. So I gave that Idea up, and I am currently in the process of clearing a hard drive, so I can install SLAX. I also tried Linspire Live last night. Looks really cool and easy to use, but all the software costs money. So I threw that out the window. A program just like WinAmp (it says its a winamp clone in the description) would cost me 60$. Yeah, right. Great Idea but im not paying for things i can get for free somewhere else. Oh well. I'll be a linux geekette soon too! :eri:

the whole concept of Open Source is to use what is out there and build your own .. if you can't build a piece .. you need to buy it.
Personaly .. if I'm doing Linux .. I'm Buy'n it and installing from a box.

Ubuntu and Mepis are nice distros and both have live cd's - no cost involved. Mepis is actually a live cd that installs easily, so you can try it and if it runs well for you, then you can opt to install while it's running from the cd.

I have to agree absolutely with andyman. I have tried all sorts of Linux "free" distros, but them I bought the latest Xandros, and it runs like a charm! i installed it on a separate partition, and I can choose whether I want to boot to WinXP or Xandros. The whole system seems rock solid!

MySlax works great. I run it on a USB key. I've compiled a few modules and plug it in almost daily.
