password protected account

i have been doing a reinstall of xp. i ghosted the drive to backup all the info. now after doing a fresh install i need to copy some info back from the backup. the account i need info from was password proctected (i know the password). when booted from the fresh install and then trying to access the protected account i get a "denied access" type of message. is there a way to get through this?

The fresh install of Windows does not know anything about the account (there is no record of it in the registry), all it knows is that it is password protected. You could try taking ownership of the folder containing the files you need to backup.

Have you tried Ghost explorer, I do not recall having to provide any passwords.
