no network connection

the computer is not showing a connection to the network, everything was fine in the morning, turned off the computer, went to work and then the network connection stopped working. I am new to ubuntu so go easy on me telling me what I can do to figure out this problem. Running Ubuntu 10.04 on a Asus M4A78L-M
I have tried the preview option of ubuntu from the install cd and same problem

I had the same problem installing ubuntu on my macbook. I did a clean reinstall of it and installed the drivers from an online repository instead of the install CD. That solved the problem. I'm not an expert at all, it took me three installs to get it right.
