Downloading Adobe Flash Player 11

Youtube has stopped working on the family Windows 7 computer. The video screen says to download Adobe Flash Player. A bar below offers to download Adobe Flash Player 10. Clicking on it brings up an offer to download Adobe Flash Player 11. I have tried to download it a few times. During the download it says to shut down IE. I have done that and the download completes and a screen comes up saying it is running Adobe Flash Player. Back at Youtube it still wants Adobe Flash Player to be downloaded. I have tried a reboot but no success. Any suggestions?

I managed to set Firefox as the default browser, so now Youtube works. It took me a while to realize that Firefox hides the Tools menu by default. I had to hit F10 to get it to show. Duh!
