I have come across a IMac DV 400 with all the standard stuff, OS X 10.2.8
my question is the system only has 192 meg of ram if i was to install more would this help with my speed.

I know it a older system but for free, and I get to say bye Windows, it's great.

or what beeter options do i have untill i get a faster system or xmas.

not a bad little iMac, fer free. :)

Absolutely more ram. OS X loves ram. Also, think about going up to panther at least. Jaguar (10.2) is not bad, but Panther (or Tiger) is the bomb.

Have look at www.lowendmac.com and look for your model. It may have some god info and tips in regards to upgrades.

Hey! Great little bonus! That iMac will run Mac OS X versions 3 ("Panther") and 4 ("Tiger") quite well for typical usage. The newer the OS X version, the more efficient it will run. Put as much RAM in it as it'll take.
