My brother wants me to format his hdd for him, so I took it out of his computer and added it to mine. Made it slave, everything works peachy. Now, there are some folders that say access denied, I have no idea why as his computer had no restrictions. Is there any way I could lift this? And yes, he is the one who came to me with the problem.
Thanks.

Your running WindowsXP? WinXP locks certain folders by name, for example "Windows" is locked so is Documents and Settings I believe. I know this because I tried it they way you were doing and I also tried accessing something in "My Documents" on my laptop (WinXP) from my main PC (Win2K SP4).
You may have to put the HDD back into your bro's PC, copy the files you want to a accessible location and then back it up using your PC (and format etc.).

Get a 98 book disk from www.bootdisk.com put the harddrive back into his box and boot with the 98 floppy. When you get to the command prompt, type format c: /u and it will format the drive. Reboot with the cd in the drive and if installing XP, have it format again to the ntfs file system. Back up everything first before doing this.
