I just got this wierd call this morning...probably a bill collecter but it came up on the answering machine to call this 1-800-414-4352 number about my account.
Gave me an account number to put in .I dont recall any number like this...although I did get a call from a collection agency a week ago...so I thought maybe it was them.
With all these prank numbers you call and get billed hundreds of dollars I'm worried to call it.I tried a search but come up empty.Does anyone know where you can check these 1-800 numbers.

Good links Digiital !
An 800 number call you won't get billed for, but it does sound like a collection agency OR one of those "you've won ...." scams. Both these guys can be quite relentless once they find a positive, working, access to you. As one of Digiital's links suggests, if you don't get an answer when you call back (I wouldn't), expect a telemarketing call, anywhere from 1 week to a few months, "reminding" you about a previous call that you have won some big prize - "don't worry, you still can get it", all you have to do is attend a prize-giving event where you are guaranteed your "prize". We had a thread on this before that was lost in a previous crash.

They don't? I thought it was just 911 and 611 that you could call without a quarter... :rrg:

1-800 numbers are called Toll Free, hence, no toll, even at the payphone.

Hey, the number that you posted at the top is the number for NCO Financial, they offer several services and one of them is collecting debts, so it's probably a call you might not want to answer :)

why would he NOT want to answer it. By ignoring it, he is making it worse. At least if he answers it and talks to the people he can negotiate something. My advice, answer explain yourself and set up some sort of payment plan. They can't get blood from a stone, so whatever you can afford.
