30 gig email?

Hey i came across a site that was offering invites to 30gigs.com email service. So i signed up and got my own 30gig email account.

I signed up a while ago but that's overkill I don't need any more than 1 GB or else I just store it on my PC.

Well seeing how no one ever contacts me i just got it to be in the "cool" crowd.

I dont see the site lasting long offering that kind of email storage. If you think about it, if even 1000 people signed up and every one of those people backed up 30 gigs of files, how long would it tke to fill up the server?...not very long I am thinking. Sounds a bit fishy to me.

Oh I saw it alright. Just very skepitcal that a website would be offering such storage space for free. Dont get me wrong, but this just sounds too good to be true. I would have to question, exactly how many terabytes of info can their servers actually handle? Not near what will be uploaded before they crash and burn.

Well i was skeptical of gmail cause there email space keeps on going up and up before was 2gb's now its like close to 3gb soon.

Further to this, I dont see how anyone can offer this service for free. It sounds like just another scam to me. I have been around the bend and back again enough times to know what is good and what to run as fast as you can away from. If you think about it, uploading even a 10 gig file backup is going to take forever even on high speed. How secure are the files you do upload? I could go on and on about the downfalls but that would just be a waste of time.

Gmail exsists through advertisments... someone has to pay for it... there's no such thing as a free lunch...

Just be careful of anything you store there ;)

Its nice to have gigs of storage but at 10meg per emile like gmail thats
going to take some time to fill.

Well statistically, not many people need that much space, in fact it is unlikely someone will even exceed gmails capacity. So it is a marketing thing really.
