Cant log on as user

Hello
My laptop was wrkin fine a few days ago in the morning, than i turned it off and went to school. Come back at night time and when i log on as my user i get a whole new desktop and i dont have anything in the start menu. I cant open msn ( i have to run it as admin to open it) basically all my music/pictures and everything is gone. However when i go to document seetings and go to my user and open up that folder i see the files there. I then saved some stuff on that user whatever i looged in as. Then i logged out and logged in as admin. And then when i try to find those files i find then under TEMP. And while logged in as admin i cant access my User files. it says access denied...
any suggestions

ummm when logging on as admin the username for it is Administrator... if yoiu cannot access your files via Administrator your directory permissions are corrupt ....
theres 2 options ( the first MAY work may not the second WILL work as it rewrites all the directories as admin accessable and turns off local file security

Restore back to the date before the day it happened

or you will have to reinstall windows over the old version ( don;t use a RESTORE disk if the manufacturer supplied one it WILL erase ALL the information on the drive)
