I personally went to the driving school that you can join through the high school. You have to go to some in classroom lessons and they will set you up with a driving school for 10, 1hour lessons and the benefit with this is that you get a driving school certificate which can reduce your insurance cost later down the road.

how much did caa cost?
these things are anything but cheap, just keep that in mind
You will spend abt $300
Plus don't forget the $100 it took you to get the g1, driving is $$$
Mine was a bit more because I paid in instalments. if you pay all the money up front the driving instructors feel apathetic to come and give u lessons since they have already gotten their money.
Well that is what I heard, from others.

I went to Provincial Driving School. It was pretty crappy, but it did the trick. Well, the in-class was crap, but the in-car was beneficial.

Yes, the in class stuff is dry as toast made of sand paper but getting into a car and having those lessons is great. Hands on learning is always the way to go.

Some driving schools offer a weekend course, where your in the seat for 12 hours a day for 2 days. Then its in car for the rest.

i took my g1 test quite some time ago, but on my driver's license for the g1 it says expires 2008, so that means i don't have to take the g1 test again right? because i heard that i have to take the g2 within 8 months of getting the g1 or something, i hope that's not true.

Your G1 is valid for 5 years from the time it was issued. You have to wait at least 1 year before you can take the G1 exit test which gives you your G2. Unless you complete a driver training course recognized by the province, then you can take the G1 exit test in 8 months. :)

Learning how to drive a standard can be very valuable as well, starting out with that ability is easier then learning it later when your so used to a automatic as I'm finding out.

^ It is easy to learn. It's harder to go between different models of cars because each car is different. 4 months with my Alero and I'm still trying to figure out the smoothness. Clutch pedal pops and is not smooth so more skill is required for smooth shifting. Takes time. Took me about a year to get used to my old Cavalier.
All in all, it is fun and you'll know how to drive every vehicle.

I skipped the inclass component all together and got my G2. Now I have to go inclass to save on my insurance, (parents are forcing me lol). Anyway I used some small school because they didnt offer anything at my high school. Though I live in Etobicoke.
