Research says use latex bonding in thinset....Any thoughts or tips :rrg:

I've heard of that before but another approach is a couple of products from Stone Mason:
1) remove any loose/chipping paint from the floor.
2) clean dirt and grease with SM multi purpose cleaner, let dry
3) with a roller/bristle brush apply SM E-Z Flow primer 100 (primer and bonding adhesive) and let dry approx 30 min and then apply another coat and let dry (water based)
4) apply regular thinset and tile.
This is the route I took before having the basement bathroom tiled and it worked like a charm.
A bit more work but haven't had a problem and my tile man appreciated it.

House is only 3 years old...painted basement floor the day we moved in.(before we loaded the basement with junk!)
So its not loose/chipping.
Made a 10/10 mudroom at front of basement and want to make sure the thinset and tile will adhere to floor.
Was looking at the SM stuff when i was thinking about putting Quarry tiles on my front porch.
Sounds like a great idea..Thanks Frogy
